This is my second week in Finland, based at the Finnish Institute for Education Research, University of Jyväskylä. I was invited to present my research at the April meeting of the Higher Education Studies Team (HIEST), convened by Marc Perkins (a doctoral student from the USA, happily living and studying in Finland). Being my first opportunity to share who I am, what I think, my lived experience and research pathways I decided to provide some context going back about 20 years. I started with the evolution of online global collaborative learning from the ‘Flat Classroom’ (K-12) heyday and moved into current times where my focus is now on higher education.
The presentation, “From Pedagogy to Cosmogogy Reimagining Learning in a Human-AI-World Ecosystem” explores the concept and practice of learning in a flattened and flexible environment that is beyond mere collaboration between institutions or classrooms. I share my PhD research, key outcomes being the Global Collaborator Mindset and OGCL Framework. I attempt to explain how the ‘Cosmogogy learning ecosystem’ is a fundamental reimagining of how we learn and create knowledge together. Key domains of this are Human-AI-World and I discuss the interrelationships and considerations for learning and teaching within the ecosystem.

Finally I focus on my current exploration of ‘cosmogogy’ in higher education – imperatives, possibilities, and leadership approaches. We had a robust discussion at the end of my talk. I welcome your feedback.
